Dual-cameras and Bokeh camera effects are currently the reserve of flagship handsets, but with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 450 chipset you can expect to see a number of mid-range Android phones boasting some fancy features soon.

Samsung’s own artificial intelligence assistant is yet to officially launch in the US or UK despite the company claiming it would launch by the end of Spring 2017. 

Unnamed industry sources have told The Investor that the tech hasn’t been released in the west thanks to a “lack of resources”. Bixby Voice is currently only available in South Korea.

There's been a lot of talk about fingerprint scanners being moved under the screen of our smartphones, but we’re yet to see a handset launch with this tech. That could change in a big way in 2018 though, after Qualcomm announced its own implementation.

Talking at MWC Shanghai, the San Diego-based company unveiled the latest generation of its Snapdragon Sense ID fingerprint technology, with the headline feature being the ability for the digit reader to be embedded below the display of a device.

Qualcomm unveils its next generation of ultrasonic fingerprint scanners

Qualcomm today has introduced the next generation of its ultrasonic fingerprint scanner at MWC Shanghai. Qualcomm Fingerprint Sensors are the follow up to the last generation's Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID fingerprint technology. New sensors were announced that will allow fingerprints to be scanned on Glass, Display and Metal. These will work underwater.
